GOLD CREEK STREAM, SOUTH EASTERN B.C.

GLOCKEMANN - HIGH LIFT TEST PUMP SITE

In Cooperation with B.C. Ag Resource Management Branch , B.C. Min of Forests,

Cranbrook & Marcer Ranching

505 ft, vertical lift to supply stock tank water

Diversion “T” in delivery line at 320 ft lift level sends water to stock tank at this point. Line changes to poly and is buried to final lift

Once water level closes valve, flow is sent on up to the 800 gal storage tank at top of grade.

Steel water line runs up grade between pines.

Water flows at storage tank level 505 ft above stream—720 US gal per day

Rancher, Bob Marcer, connects water feed line at top tank delivery line to precharge 1500 ft of line prior to pump start-up.

Beginning of 450 ft—150 mm steel pipe water delivery line to surge tank sited past bend in stream. Low grade of 1% requires this length of line to produce 1.6m drop from tank to pump. Filter box at pipe opening.

The 1% grade on the stream bed required the placement of a long drive tube to attain the required head to power the pump.

With interagency cooperation a plan to install 450’ of 6” steel pipe was carried out to provide a drop of 1.6m at the pump location.

Lower end of water supply line to surge tank which supplies drive tube sits 1.6m drop above Glockemann 320. 18m drive tube connects pump to tank

Beginning of 1500 ft delivery line to 800 gal reservoir tank at 545 ft. The first stock tank at 320 ft fills from “T” in line. Water then continues to reservoir tank and gravity flow then fills stock tanks show in picture #1

SITE SUMMARY:

  1. Pump at river is at 0 feet elevation & 0 feet pipe distance.
  2. 1st trough is at 318 feet elevation ( 922 - 825m ) and pipe distance of 900 feet ( 227m + 47m )
  3. Storage tank is at 505 feet ( 979—825m ) and pipe distance of 1,500 feet.

Pump location: elevation at pump 279 ft.(825m)

Pump location to Tee off for first trough: distance 745 ft (227 m), elevation at Tee 3035 ft (925m_.

Tee location to 1st trough: distance 154 ft (47 m), elevation at trough 3025 ft  (922 m)

Pump location to storage tank: distance 1545 ft (472 m), elevation at storage tank 3212 ft (979m).

Thus we have a lift of 505 ft (154m) through a pipe distance of 1549 ft (472m).

Pump location to storage tank: distance 1549 ft (472 m), elevation at storage tank 3212 ft (979m)

Thus we have a lift of 505 ft (154m) through a pipe distance of 1549 ft (472m).
